On March 4, 2022, the legendary paratrooper from Berdiansk, the Hero of Ukraine Valerii Chybineiev, gave his life fighting for Ukraine and each of us near Hostomel. In 2019, his only brother died, too defending his native Donbas.
A native of Berdiansk and its honorary resident,Valerii was an orphan who lost both of his parents in his early childhood, so he was brought up in a boarding school. Having received basic secondary education, he entered the Zaporizhzhia military lyceum “Zakhysnyk”. Later, graduated from the Odesa Academy of Ground Forces. In 2010, with the rank of lieutenant, he joined the 79th Airmobile Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On August 24, 2016, on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence during the parade on Khreshchatyk, Captain Valerii Chybineiev was awarded the honorary title of the Hero of Ukraine.
